Enjoying the Beach.
Hello!
I think I'm going to make 'post more often on your blog!' my early New Year's Resolution.
Here's something I'm working on now: it'll be in a book of poems for kindergartners for Harcourt Publishers. I love how I've been asked to do more and more beach/summery scenes lately...I now have plenty of inspiration here in Charleston! Mmm, and amazing seafood, too ;~)
This final is due Monday, I'll post again soon!

Storming the Globe!
Hello!
I've been busy illustrating, and this here is piece #3 out of 4 deadlines due this week! Whew! :~) It's a magazine cover dealing with different ways media/information is used globally. I'm so happy I was asked to work on a paper sculpture this time; 90% of my work is polymer clay (which I love) but it's refreshing to be able to mix it up once in a while!
I'll have more to share with you on Friday, and then I'm off to Charleston, SC for apartment hunting!!! Wish me luck!

the Starfish Story
Here's a piece I just finished up....it's for the Elyria City School District. Every year they give out a thank-you gift to all of their teachers/faculty, and this year they asked me to make them a nice printed piece that could be framed. This was such a great project to work on!
I'll have another Highlights piece to post very soon... ;~)
PS: Only one more month left in Ohio! I'm heading down south October 1st....really looking forward to being near the ocean!

Midnight Oil
Good morning!
It's very late at night and I'm sculpting away on some new illustrations. My deadlines are quickly approaching! It's a funny thing with freelance: When it rains it pours. (But the rain is very welcome!--pennies from heaven!) Things have been a little slow for me around here work-wise for the past 3-4 weeks; just some little things here and there...and then Bam! It all hits at once.
But I'm not comlaining ;~)
Here's one of my new sculpts; from a series about things we love about summer for Cleveland Magazine. PS: I know, I know!--- Fried Chicken?! Haha, it was in the story.

April in Ohio
Good morning all, and Happy Easter. This is the view I see from my apartment today:
...poor Armand. He's one of the cars buried in that mess.
I'm posting this photo because I want to keep it fresh in my memory; I'm seriously considering moving to a warmer state and this is my motivation. Lakewood is gorgeous all through summer.....nice and hot, miles of wooded parks, even a few decent beaches off Lake Erie. But THIS kind of weather is getting to be too much. I'm looking forward to posting a photo of wherever I end up at this time next year :~) Maybe it'll have cacti in it.
Hope the Easter Bunny brought you something sweet.

Is it Spring Yet?
Alright! It's been a little while since I've posted anything; I've been pretty busy! I have some spring-y cookies for you, enjoy! The second picture here is a mix of 3 different cookie packages I'm sending out--they may not make sense together except for color scheme. I know that I've mostly been posting pics of my side projects (jewelry & cookies) ...I need to update my main website with all of my new clay illustrations. I'm working on some cool projects right now that I can post in a week or so. Ciao!

...some wirey cuff bracelets...
..this is one of my very first asymmetrical bracelets---and I can't part with it!
...a black onyx/pearl bracelet with Bali silver clasps...
...and my bead board :")

Sketchbook to Final Art
Okay! Here are a couple of pieces I'm working on right now.
This first one is for Harcourt, it's going in a big book of poetry for Kindergartners. Deadline is early next week, so I'll post a final for you soon! I'm thinking about having the farmer on the left holding real seeds in his hands....maybe even Flax seeds :")
Here's how the final looks!
"Fall in Love"
Here you go, Janice!
These are the cookies that Vanessa commissioned from me for her wedding last year. I think there were 30-35 total, and she had ordered the ribbons from a company online. There weren't any extras that night!
