Just completed a personal lettering piece in polymer clay... Just My Type. I'm going to keep experimenting with this! Having some fun. Happy weekend, all!

Clay Sculpted Alphabet

 Well, hello! I'm beginning a 26-part series: a polymer clay sculpted alphabet. I'd like to work on more clay lettering these days, and thought this would be a great way to get a little practice in. Here are the first four--fun so far!

Here's an alternate color version of Cinderella Kids. The client preferred the first version, but I can't decide which is my favorite.

the Fib-Sniffer 4000

Wow! I've been digging through my closets today in search of artwork I can sell..... and I found this guy! This is my very first official clay illustration. It was for an advanced Illustration class at Kent State in Spring of '01, so nearly 10 years! It looks so.... primitive. :~)

Those hands make me laugh! ...and how my businessman is flat, with his mouth completely punched out. Those lights around the border are glow-in-the-dark.

I'll keep practicing & see how things look in another 10 years!

Spot Illustrations

Awards Time!

I've just been notified about 2 awards my work has recently won! ...I'm so pleased.
My paper illustration for the Oct 2007 Presstime Magazine cover, "World View," is a finalist for an award from the American Society of Business Publication Editors. We won't find out what it wins until the July 24th banquet. That's one of 2 awards that issue has won... congrats to Presstime!


...and my series of clay illustrations has won 1st Place in the 30th Annual Ohio Excellence in Journalism Awards (AKA the Press Club Awards)! This series in the Cleveland Magazine Summer Fun Guide was in the Multiple Illustrations/1 Story category. Thanks, Cleveland Magazine & congrats!

Sketchbook to Final Art

Okay! Here are a couple of pieces I'm working on right now.
This first one is for Harcourt, it's going in a big book of poetry for Kindergartners. Deadline is early next week, so I'll post a final for you soon! I'm thinking about having the farmer on the left holding real seeds in his hands....maybe even Flax seeds :")

Almost to the weekend!

Hello again! This is 1 from that series of 4 of the Fox&Grapes fable...I'm glad these are almost done. It's been quite a busy week, Christmas shopping and studying for my last final. I officially have my BFA from Kent!!! Yay! Finally, huh?
